The history explains different stories on the birth of the golden fibre.  The first recorded history of coconut in the country dates back to Ramayana period.In the Valmiki Ramayana there are references of coconut in the Kishkindha Kanda and Aranya Kanda. It is reported that Ramayana was written by Valmiki sometimes in 3rd Century BC. Generally it is believed that coconut was introduced in India during the post-Vedic period.

Applications are invited from candidates possessing the qualifications given below for appointment to the post of Lower Division Clerk in the Pay Band of Rs.5200-20,200 +1900(GP) under the Coir Board. The eligibility conditions are as given below:

Lower Division Clerk:
Seven (Out of which six posts are Unreserved, One post is reserved for ST)
Age : Not exceeding 25 years as on 21.12.2009 (The age limit is relax able for ST candidates upto 5 years)
Educational Qualifications: SSLC or Equivalent, 30 w.p.m. in Typewriting (English) essential/
