Ministry of Environment and Forest Recruits Bachelor’s / Master Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering / Zoology / Environmental Sciences / Mining Engineering And M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering/ Public Health Engineering/Rivers & Lake Conservation/ Water Resources. Ph.D. in Chemistry/Environmental Science/ Ecology Candidates In 2010
Ministry of Environment and Forests requires the services of Scientists for following posts :
Scientist -G-01-Post in Zoological Survey of India
Pay Scale: PB-4 Rs.37400-67000 GP Rs.10000
Age: Max 50 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications
Qualification:
Masters Degree in Zoology from a recognized University or Institution with minimum of twenty-one years experience or Ph.D with a minimum of eighteen years experience [excluding the period spentin obtaining Ph.D.], in original Zoological Research and Faunistic Survey work.
Desirable:
(i) Knowledge of International Code of Nomenclature of animal kingdom,
(ii) knowledge of one or more of the following foreign languages – Latin, German, French & Russian
(iii) Administrative experience of any Scientific Organisation/ Unit
(iv) Practical experience in arrangements of museum collections
(v) Evidence of outstanding scientific research and
(vi) Publications in refereed journals of international repute
Duties and Job requirements:
(i) To act as the Zoological Adviser to the Govt. of India
(ii) Research in taxonomy, morphology, systematics and zoo-geography of animals
(iii) To guide, direct and supervise research work, faunistic surveys and maintenance of public Zoological Galleries of the Indian Museum, and
(iv) (Administration of the Headquarters Office in Kolkata and its Regional/ Field Stations in different parts of the country.

Kolkata, liable to be posted anywhere in the country.
Scientist – C- 08-Posts in Ministry of Environment and Forests
Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 GP Rs.6600/-
Age: Max 35 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications
Qualification and Experience:
Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences/Mining Engineering/Technology from a recognized University, with three years working experience in the field of conservation of flora, fauna, forestry and wildlife, afforestation and regeneration of degraded areas and protection of environment.
Desirable:
Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences/Mining Engineering/Technology
Duties and Job requirements:
1. Policy planning and coordination for environmental protection
2. Afforestation and regeneration of degraded areas and protection of environment
3. Eco-regeneration, assistance to organisations implementing environmental and forestry research, extension, education and training to augment the requisite manpower, dissemination and creation of environmental awareness among all sectors of the country’s
population

Scientist – C-03-Posts in Botanical Survey of India
Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 GP Rs.6600/-
Age: Max 35 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications
Qualification and Experience:
Master’s degree in Botany from a recognized University with three years experience in research/teaching in the field of taxonomy of Angiosperms / Bryophytes / Lichens/Fungi/Algae.
Desirable:
1. Doctorate in Botany from a recognized university;
2. Knowledge of International Code of Plant Nomenclature,
3. Working knowledge of any of the foreign languages – Latin, German, French and Russian, and
4. Area of Experience – Taxonomy of any one of the fields – Angiosperms/Algae/ Fungi/Lichens /Bryophytes.
Duties & Job Requirements:
(i) To identify plants.
(ii) To prepare scientific reports on field or herbarium specimens.
(iii) To undertake field excursions.
(iv) To supervise the work of Scientific Assistants & Technical Assistants.
(v) Identification of specimens in the Regional/National Herbaria.
(vi) Preparation of Floristic accounts of the collections of Algae/Fungi/ Lichens/Bryophytes/ Pteridophytes/Gymnosperms/Angiosperms.
(vii) Help and assistance to the Office-in-charge of the Office and
(viii) Any other duties that may be assigned to him from time to time.

Scientist – F-03-Posts in National River Conservation Directorate
Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs.37400-67000 GP Rs.8900/-
Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology or Master’s Degree in Chemistry/Environmental Science/ Ecology from a recognized University or Institute.
Desirable:
M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering/ Public Health Engineering/Rivers & Lake Conservation/ Water Resources. Ph.D. in Chemistry/Environmental Science/ Ecology
Eligibility for Deputation:
Officers holding analogous posts on regular basis or Officers holding posts in the Pay Band – 4 of Rs.37,400-67,000 with Grade Pay of Rs.8700/- [pre-revised scale Rs. 14,300-18,300] on regular basis with 5 years of regular service under Central / State Government / Autonomous Bodies / Universities / Government Research Institutions
Eligibility for Short-term Contract:
Non-Governmental Officers holding a post with comparable responsibilities with 16 years of experience in the relevant field after obtaining the essential qualifications (13 years experience for holders of Ph.D. [excluding the period spent in obtaining Ph.D.]).
Scientist – E-02-Posts in National River Conservation Directorate
Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs.37400 – 67000 GP Rs.8700/-
Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology from a recognized University or Institute.
Desirable qualification .
M.Tech. in Environmental Engineering/ Public Health Engineering/Rivers & Lake Conservation/Water Resources.
Eligibility for Deputation:
Officers holding analogous posts on regular basis or Officers holding posts in the Pay Band –3 of Rs.15,600-39,100 with grade pay of Rs.7600/- [pre-revised scale Rs. 12,000-16,500] on regular basis with 4 years of regular service under Central / State Government / Autonomous Bodies / Universities / Government Research Institutions
Eligibility for Short-term Contract:
Non-Governmental Officers holding a post with comparableresponsibilities with 11 years of experience in the relevant field after obtaining the essential qualifications (08 years experience for holders of Ph.D. [excluding the period spent in obtaining Ph.D.]).
Scientist – B-06-Posts in National River Conservation Directorate
Pay Scale: PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 GP Rs.5400/-
Essential Educational qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering/Technology or Master’s Degree in Environmental Science/Chemistry/Ecology/Mass Communication from a recognized University of Institute.
Desirable Qualification:
1. M. Tech. in Environmental Engineering or Public Health Engineering/Rivers & Lake Conservation / Water Resources.
2. Two years working/research experience in the relevant field; or
3. Ph.D. in Environmental Science/Chemistry/Ecology
4. Two years working/research experience in the relevant field or Social Science/Public Relations/Social Works
Duties and Job requirements:
1. Development of Plans and implementation of activities for prevention, control and abatement of Pollution and conservation of the river Ganga
2. Monitoring of Water Quality, River Ecology, Environmental Pollution and investigations and research in these areas.
3. Planning and Execution of programme related to Sewerage Infrastructure, Catchment Area treatment, protection of flood plains
4. Planning and Implementation of water conservation practices, including recycling and reuse, rain water harvesting and decentralized sewage treatment systems
Eligibility for Deputation:
Officers holding analogous posts on regular basis or Officers holding posts in the Pay Band –2 of Rs.9,300-34,800 with grade pay of Rs.4800/- [pre-revised scale Rs. 7,500-12,000] on regular basis with 2 years of regular service under Central / State Government / Autonomous Bodies / Universities / Government Research Institutions
Eligibility for Short-term Contract:
Non-Governmental Officers holding a post with comparable responsibilities.
Relaxations:
For SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped and Ex-servicemen, age limit is relaxable as per rules. The maximum age limit (not relaxable) for appointment on deputation (including short-term contract) shall be 56 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of applications from candidates in India (and not the closing date prescribed for those from abroad and for those in Assam, Megahalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh division of the Jammu & Kashmir State, Lahaul & Spiti District and Pangi Sub-division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, the Andman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep,).

How to Apply:
Applications should reach the Section Officer (P.III), Ministry of Environment & forests, Room No. 907, Paryavaran Bhawan, CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi – 110 003 within 45 days of publication in the Employment News/Leading Newspapers. Applications from abroad and from those in the Andman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, State/Union Territories in the North Eastern Region, Ladakh division of the Jammu & Kashmir State, Sikkim, Pangi Sub-division of Chamba, Lahaul & Spiti Districts of Himachal Pradesh should reach within 60 days of publication in the Employment News/Leading Newspapers. Applications should be sent in a cover super-scribed “Application for the post of Scientist “—–“in the “—–“vide Advertisement No.01/19/2009-P.III. The applications must be sent in the prescribed proforma (neatly hand-written or typed out in A-4 size paper 210×297 mm) accompanied by crossed Bank Draft (Indian Postal Orders will not be entertained and the application will not be considered) of the value of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) drawn in favour of Drawing & Disbursing Officer, Ministry of Environment & Forests, payable at New Delhi.

Notes:
- Applications should be sent either in English or in Hindi and in the prescribed proforma itself.
- The posts of Scientist “C” presently being advertised are identified as suitable for persons with disability belonging to the categories OH[OL/OA] (mobility should not be restricted) /HH[PD].
- Candidates applying for more than one post should submit separate applications, complete in all respects including the requisite application fees (no fees for applicants belonging to SC/ST/Physically Handicapped category and for deputation).
- Applications must be accompanied by attested copies of certificates of educational qualifications, research/ work experience and claim of belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped etc. failing which the application will be treated as incomplete
- Persons working in Government/Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous Organisations should submit their applications through proper channel together with a certificate as in Annexure. They may, if they so wish send an advance copy of the application, by the due date .in the prescribed form, complete in all respects, including original Bank Draft. The advance copy should invariably be followed by the application which is forwarded through proper channel and must reach this Section not later than 15 days after the closing date, failing which their candidature will not be considered. It may be noted that advance copy of application with Photocopy of Bank Draft will be treated as incomplete and would be summarily rejected.
- Candidates will have to produce the proof of details furnished in their applications, in original, as and when required.
- Non-Departmental outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro III Tier AC railway/ bus fare by the shortest route from the place mentioned in column no. 10 of the application proforma to Delhi, for the journey performed within the territory of India, on production of proof of journey such as the railway ticket or bus ticket etc.
- Applications received after the due date, unsigned applications, applications not in the prescribed proforma, applications without photograph, applications where the post number is not filled in/ not filled in correctly, advance copy of applications if not followed by the copy through proper channel, applications without Demand Draft and applications incomplete in any respect, will not be considered.
- Only Indian Nationals need apply.
- Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
- The prescribed educational qualifications and experience are minimum and it would be open to the Ministry to restrict the number of candidates to be interviewed to a reasonable limit by adopting qualifications and experience of a higher level than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
- The Ministry reserves the right not to fill any post, if it so decides.
- No correspondence/representation will be entertained either in regard to the call for interview and/or selection.
- It may be noted that if, at any stage, it is discovered that an attempt has been made by the applicant to willfully conceal or misrepresent the facts, his candidature will be summarily rejected or his employment terminated.
