TNPSC all groups eligibility criteria and job roles in details

All the posts of TN PSC are divided into various groups according to their respective eligibility and job profile, information about some of the major groups are as follows.

Group 1:

Job profile:

Assistant commissioner, Deputy superintendent of police, District employment officer, etc

Educational Qualification:
  • Candidates should have passed bachelor degree graduation or equivalent from a University which is recognized by the act of the Central or State Legislature in India or any other Educational Institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
  • Another fact needs to be considered is that the preference is given to those candidates, who possess the degree relevant to the post mentioned against any posts in a notification.
Age limit:
  • General candidates should be between 21-30 years
  • SC’s, SC(A)’s, ST’s, MBC’s/DC’s, BC’s, BCM’s and DW’s of all castes should be between 21-35 years.

Group 2:

Job profile:

Deputy Commercial Tax Officer, Sub-Registrar, Probation Officer in Prison Department, Assistant Inspector of Labor, Junior Employment Officer, Special Assistant in Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Special Branch Assistant in Intelligence wing of the Police Department,  Assistant Section Officer in TNPSC, ASO cum Programmer in TNPSC, Assistant Inspector in Local Fund Audit, Audit Inspector in Hindu Religious, Supervisor of Industrial Co-operatives, Senior Inspector of Co-operative Societies, Supervisor / Junior Superintendent in TN Agricultural Marketing and Agricultural Business Department, Handloom Inspector, Revenue Assistant in Revenue Department, Revenue Assistant in Revenue Department, etc.

Educational Qualification:

For the post of Clerical cadre, one should have:

  • Passed 10+02 or its equivalent certificate from a recognized board.
  • Knowledge of typing/shorthand in the local language as well as in English.

For all other posts, a candidate should have:

  • Passed graduation or equivalent relevant to the post from a recognized university
  • Other professional skills relevant to the post.
Age limit:
  • General candidates should be between 18-30 years
  • SC’s, SC(A)’s, ST’s, MBC’s/DC’s, BC’s, BCM’s and DW’s of all castes have no age limit.

Group 3:

Job profile:

Executive officer, Clerks, stenographers, etc

Educational Qualification:
  • Should have passed a minimum of 60% in high school/graduation or equivalent in any stream/subject from any recognized university.
  • Knowledge of typing/shorthand in the local language as well as in English in some posts.
Age limit:
  • General candidates should be between 18-30 years
  • SC’s, SC(A)’s, ST’s, MBC’s/DC’s, BC’s, BCM’s and DW’s of all castes have no age limit.

Group 4:

Job profile:

Junior Assistant, Bill Collector, Typist, Steno-Typist, Field Surveyor and Draftsman

Educational Qualification:
  • Passed class 10th/12th or equivalent relevant to the post from a recognized board.
  • Any other skills relevant to the post.
Age limit:
  • General candidates should be between 18-35 years
  • SC’s, SC(A)’s, ST’s, MBC’s/DC’s, BC’s, BCM’s and DW’s of all castes have no age limit.
